The Walking Dead Season 10, Episode 12 “Walk With Us” Recap

As last week’s episode ended with The Whisperers shooting flaming arrows to Hilltop, everyone over there are caught in a very sticky situation. How will they get out of it? You will find out right now as I review the newest episode of The Walking Dead titled “Walk With Us.”

The battle from the previous episode continues as everyone is now behind the gates of Hilltop fighting off Walkers and Whisperers that tried to attack the members of the group. The ones with the shields try their hardest to hold the walkers back including the flaming ones. There is also fire everywhere at Hilltop and even some explosions happens too. The key moments that happens in this battle sequence is Carol using her arrows to take out the front walkers, Earl and Alden using a catapult, Lydia telling Mary that she will not walk with Alpha ever again, Ezekiel gathering the children and also looking for Judith as an explosion occured behind him, and Daryl using his morning star weapon to take down walkers and Whisperers. When Yumiko was about to use her bow, she sees Magna within the horde as Magna covered herself with walker blood. Carol looked at the destruction and burning of Hilltop all around.

In the morning of the aftermath of the attack, The Whisperers and Negan are walking around the outside of Hilltop and Negan seen one of the soldiers that is in severe pain and is dying. Negan kills him with his Lucille 2.0. Him and Alpha then talk and Negan thought it was a victory, but Alpha does not think so yet. Beta comes in and told Alpha that he will not stop until Lydia is home since they did not find her. Negan told Beta that he is at his service and Beta showed no interest. Negan then said “such a dick” as they seperated. Negan goes deeper in the woods and there was one walker that passes by him since he had a Whisperer mask on. More walkers are coming and Negan decided to take that walker down out of boredom. Negan also noticed that Lydia was walking and was very weak. Aaron was dragging Luke’s body and also found Negan as Negan was running. Negan tried to tell him that it would be stupid to kill him right there and Aaron draws his sword and told Negan that he will not listen to his nonsense. More walkers are coming and Negan leaves and Aaron takes down those walkers. Negan seen Lydia on her own and captures her.

Kelly, Alden, and Mary are walking in the woods with Adam as Adam is crying and Alden is trying to calm him down. Kelly tried to help and then Mary, but Alden refused Mary’s help until she instructed him on what to do. Alden then finally lets Mary watch over Adam and Mary got Adam to remain calm. Alden asks about Mary’s sister and Mary told him that Adam meant the world to Francis and that Francis should be there right now holding Adam and not her. Mary then senses that someone is coming and she told both Alden and Kelly to start moving. They go to an abandoned minivan as walkers were coming and they struggled to open it until Mary used her knife. She lets Alden and Kelly in with Adam and closed the door. Mary then lured the walkers away from the minivan and killed them by the lake. Then out of nowhere, Beta stabs Mary at the stomach. She tried to fight back and even ripped a part of his mask off as he told her to walk with him and she said “never.” Beta continued to stab Mary until she passes out and dies. Beta then dragged her body to a tree and Beta waited for her to turn. A Whisperer found Beta and even recognized who he is under the mask. Beta then proceeded to slash that Whisperer as he killed him. Mary then turned and Alden puts her down by shooting an arrow from a distance and Beta ran away.

Carol finished refilling her water canister and Eugene tried to fix the radio. Also with them, are Magna and Yumiko. Magna explained what happened in the cave and how she and Connie escaped the cave. But she also says that she lost Connie within the horde and has not seen her since. Carol, not wanting to listen to this anymore, decided to leave right there and Yumiko told her that she owed her an apology for putting her and everyone else through everything that happened. Carol was insensitivie about it and did not apologize and Yumiko punched her right at her mouth. Magna and Yumiko then continued their conversation and she did not want Yumiko to punch Carol. She also brings up that Yumiko had a right to kick her out the last time they talked. Carol then sat on a log and a walker rised from the ground that was buried under tree leaves. That walker tried to reach to Carol, but Carol toyed with that walker at first until she put that walker down. Eugene comes to talk to her and the topic of this conversation is having nothing for show who they are even though they want something so bad. Eugene also brings up his meeting that he will have within the next week and Carol told him that he should do it since it will be worth the risk. Carol also found Lydia’s staff while she was walking through the woods.

Daryl, Rosita, Jerry, and the rest are walking and looking for the kids at a cabin. As they reached the cabin, there were a few walkers there and one got shot down with an arrow by Dianne. Daryl realizes that the children are not there and Jerry assured Nabila that he will make sure that they are found. The children are in another cabin and Earl is giving them all water. Judith asks Earl if they are safe and he told her that they all are. Earl goes to the other side of the cabin and is visibly weak. He rolls up his sleeve to reveal that he has a walker bite. He revealed it after he hammered a spike on the table. Judith noticed the bite and asked Earl why he lied to her. He gave his explanation and also told her to tell Alden to watch over Adam. Daryl and Jerry return to Hilltop and found Ezekiel as he was under a debris from the aftermath of the battle. He lets Daryl and Jerry know that Earl is with the children. Earl proceeded to kill himself by smashing his head into the spike. Judith found his corpse and Earl turned and grabbed Judith. Daryl, Ezekiel, and Jerry arrived and opened the door to let the children out. He asked for Judith and found her sitting down on the floor crying as she had to put Earl down. Daryl hugged her and sat right next to her.

Negan meet up with Alpha and told Alpha that he has found Lydia. We also see that Lydia is tied up in a chair in a cabin. Alpha told Negan that she wants him to be her lion. Negan told Alpha that he does not believe that Beta would be the “Alpha” and then Alpha told Negan to walk. While Alpha and Negan is walking to the cabin, Lydia is starting to make her escape. Negan brings up his history with his wife and how she died of cancer. Alpha told him that her death set her free and that being here right now with Alpha is his strength. Negan told Alpha that she is pretending and does not really think that her way is the right way. Negan also tried to talk her out of killing Lydia and asked her if she loved her. Alpha says that she still loves her, but she has to do it because she loves her. As Alpha reached for the door, Lydia also reached for the door and Lydia escaped. It is then here we realize that Lydia is in a different cabin and that Negan lured her here. Negan sliced Alpha’s throat as she turned around in which it killed her. He also kissed her as she was dying. Negan then brings Alpha’s head to Carol as Carol told him that he took long as it seems like that they are both satisfied that Alpha is dead as the episode ends.

I cannot remember the last time that I have given high praise to The Walking Dead three episodes straight. This one started with the continuation of the battle from the last episode and showed us the aftermath of the battle that the group lost. That battle was worth the one week wait and I am so glad that there was zero music during the battle as the focus needed to be on the battle itself. Cailey Flemming was great in this episode as she showcased how it feels to not only have your character kill someone for the first time at a young age, but to also put down a loved one or family member. I compare that to the Telltale Games series when Clementine had to do it. Also, we got three major deaths on this episode and Alpha’s was the biggest. Samantha Morton brought that character to life from the comics and she will be missed. I love Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan, but Samantha Morton as Alpha really brought out the terror of The Walking Dead that needed to return after a while of not having that feeling. She is a high ranking on my list for villans of the series. Also, bonus points to Beta for killing that Whisperer and Daryl going medievel with his morning star mace once again!

There is one critisim I have to make even though I love this episode. Why did Carol put the group on a high risk mission when she knew that she got Negan out of jail to kill Alpha. I think that the idea of using him as a backup incase if her plan did not work would have worked if she did not do these plans at the same time. It just did not make any sense and that punch Yumiko did to Carol was well deserved as that felt like what we as the viewer felt this whole season about Carol.

This backhalf so far has been amazing and I am interested to see what will happen for the rest of the season. Danai’s last episode as Michonne is one week away so we have to have our tissues ready for her exit and I am not ready for it.

Interview: Cassady McClincy Breaks Down The Current State of Lydia

Cassady McClincy as Lydia – The Walking Dead _ Season 10, Episode 7 – Photo Credit: Jace Downs/AMC

One character of The Walking Dead that has been intriguing since her debut is Lydia as she has suffered too much trauma in her past before and after the apocalypse while she was with Alpha. Lydia has went from fearing Alpha in season 9, to fully going against her in season 10 as she grew to be more of herself as we seen during the current season. Lydia has gained a positive reception among the community of The Walking Dead and Cassady McClincy, who portrays as Lydia, breaks down everything about Lydia within the last few episodes in this exclusive interview!

The battle at The Hilltop on the most recent episode is some of the best battles and cinematography I have seen especially since it has also came from the source material. Can you share me some of your memories being part of that battle?

CM: “Well, I can say that it was very hot, sweaty, dirty, and a lot of fun! One of the things that I loved the most about shooting the battle scenes was that most of the cast were all together on those days, and even though it was hard work, it was just so great to all be together. Because TWD has such a huge cast and there are so many different story lines going on at once, it’s very rare to have everyone all together like that, so when it happens, it’s just really awesome.”

I have not seen the behind the scenes footage of the battle yet, but can you tell me how all of the fire was controlled if you know?

CM: “Honestly, I wasn’t there to see them set all of that up, but Greg Nicotero was directing the amazing tech/pyro team and I know a lot of planning and direction went into that. They work really hard to make it look so fantastic and realistic!”

The dynamic between Lydia and Alpha has been a great topic of discussion ever since the both of you debuted in season 9. And now we are here in season 10. I would like to know what has Samantha Morton learned the most of you and what have you learnedmost of Samantha Morton?

CM: “Ahhh it has been SUCH an honor to get to work with Sam! She’s just a beautiful person, inside and out and pours so much of herself into bringing Alpha to life in the most incredible way. I’ve learned so much from just watching her! Every subtle movement, facial expression, and even moments of silence; all are every bit Alpha and she just kills it!”

Negan had a good plan in mind when he got Lydia to safety while he was going to kill Alpha. Do you believe Lydia will forgive him?

Cassady McClincy as Lydia, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan – The Walking Dead _ Season 10, Episode 4 – Photo Credit: Eliza Morse/AMC

CM: “Lydia feels very hurt and betrayed by Negan and she has no idea of his plan or actions. I think she has a lot of emotions to work through about everything that has happened and it will take awhile for her to face what she is feeling and what her relationship is with everyone, including Negan.”

Now that Lydia has been fully accepted into the community and no longer defined as a Whisperer, is it safe to say that Lydia does not have much to fear anymore as she did when she was with Alpha?

CM: “I wouldn’t say that Lydia is fully accepted into the community, but I do think that by fighting in the battle against the Whisperers, she was able to prove to many that she stands with them. She still has a lot of fear and mistrust to work through, but it’s a lot different than what she felt as a Whisperer. Being a Whisperer forced her to become numb and push any feelings and emotions aside to survive, so when she joined the community and saw how they lived,  it was overwhelming for her and I think it still is.”

I noticed the “H+L” sign that Lydia looked at before she had her talk with Carol. Do you remember whose idea it was to make that sign there? And do you have any Melissa McBride stories you would like to share?

CM: “That was in the script, so it was most likely the idea of the writers, Julia Ruchman and Vivian Tse! They are fantastic and really “get” Lydia and are able to convey the feelings and actions of what a girl like Lydia would actually be going through. I loved it when I read it, because I felt like that is something that Lydia would have definitely done. She’s learned to read and write in the community and is also still a young teenager and it’s such teen thing to do to express themselves and young love. Melissa McBride! Words can’t even describe how much I love her and enjoy working with her! We just have a lot of fun when we get to be together, and she has the BEST taste in music! She’s so down to earth and sweet and I just feel really honored to get to spend time with her.”

Lydia’s hair in the comic book series is blonde, and on the tv series, her hair is black. When you were casted for Lydia, was there any discussions for you to dye your hair blonde for the role, or was Lydia’s hair on the show was going to be black the entire time?

CM: “It was never mentioned or discussed, at least not with me? So maybe production discussed it prior to my first day, but luckily for me, TWD is flexible when it comes to casting!”

When Lydia seen Alpha for the final time on 10×10, it was one of the most emotional scenes I have seen in some time. How did you and Samantha Morton prepare for that scene?

CM: “Sam was actually injured when we first shot that scene, so we had to reshoot it a few weeks after. It was a difficult scene to shoot with the awkward angles and dream like feel, but working with Sam is always just so amazing and once the cameras start rolling, she just “becomes” Alpha, so it’s very easy for me to be Lydia with her. Sam is a legend, and even when shooting emotional, crying scenes with her, I can’t help but to still be incredibly happy for the opportunity to be working with her.”

The Walking Dead Season 10, Episode 11 “Morning Star” Recap

Samantha Morton as Alpha – The Walking Dead _ Season 10, Episode 11 – Photo Credit: Jace Downs/AMC

Since the mid-season premiere, we witnessed a dark and tight-spaced cave, Beta auditioning to be Michael Myers, and “that” Negan and Alpha scene that got everyone talking. The Whisperers are beginning to bring the war to the communities and tonight’s episode, we see how the group will prepare for it. Here is my recap of “Morning Star.”

Beta is cutting the center of the tree to see if sap can be poured. We also see that he has done this to the other trees in that area. Negan is with Alpha and he asks if there will be more “kinky Whisperer shit” going on. Alpha rolled up her sleeve and told Negan to whip her arm with the branch. Negan was puzzled at first, but Alpha told him to do it. Negan does this and when he finishes, Alpha does the same to his arm. There are a mix of walkers from Alpha’s horde and Whisperers walking and Alpha and Beta are doing the “end of the world/we take them all” chant. We also see that Negan has a Whisperer mask now.

Eugene is talking to Stephanie over the radio and Stephanie mentions that she seen the satellite crashing down not too long ago. Stephanie also says that they must be close since she seen it. Eugene told her that they are in Virginia and asked Stephanie when they should meet. Stephanie replied by telling him that she wants to meet him too, but she will have to talk to her group about it first. Alden and Earl notices that Aaron and other members from Alexandria arrive and they both see that they brought Mary with them (their first time seeing her unmasked). Aaron told Earl and Alden who she was, and they both agree that she does not belong there regardless that her nephew is there. It is clear here that Earl does not trust her. Carol is at Daryl’s old camp site and Ezekiel visits her. They talk about the cave and Ezekiel is worried about her. He even says that they could stay there all day and talk even if they are being bit by mosquitos.

Kelly tells Luke that she does not want to leave Connie out there and Yumiko told Kelly that she thinks that they are both dead. While Kelly is not trying to hear that, Daryl and Judith arrives to Hilltop in his motorcycle. Daryl told Yumiko that they did not get far and Lydia said that they cannot go back out there because Alpha is coming.

Rosita enters the attic of Hilltop where the radio equipment is there and hears Stephanie’s voice. Rosita asks who it is and while she is doing this, Eugene climbs down the ladder and tried to respond to Stephanie. Eugene did not expect Rosita to come to him since he was told that nobody should know about this. Eugene commented on Rosita’s wounds as she said that she fought a Whisperer (she did not name him (Beta). Eugene told Rosita to leave before he says something that he will regret. Eugene apologized to Stephanie over the radio, but she did not respond. Alpha and Negan are alone again and Negan tells Alpha that she does not need to attack just yet as he believes that they will join her side. At the meeting at Hilltop, They all debate on whether if they should leave or stay to fight. Earl believes that they should fight and Lydia lets them all know that Alpha’s horde will not go around Hilltop, but through the front. Daryl told everyone to get all of the children away from Hilltop and take them to Oceanside. They do exactly that (including getting RJ out of there) and Judith wanted to stay and battle and Daryl told Judith that he will not allow her to stay. While they were on their way to Oceanside, there is a road block with a walker hanging on the tree on the side of the road block. Daryl figures out that Negan did this and that he is with Alpha now.

Daryl and the rest goes back to Hilltop to tell them about the road block and Kelly says that they cannot stay there at all. Luke wanted to call Alexandria and Hilltop for help, but Earl not only riles everyone up for war, but also lets them know that the communities cannot help them and that they would not get there in time. While Ezekiel is getting his armor, Carol enters the room. She sees that he has the lump on his neck and even told him the line that he told her when they had their first long conversation (“Never bullshit a bullshitter”). He told her about the tumor and they both kiss. Mary finally got the chance to see her nephew, but Alden interrups her and told her that she cannot see her nephew. Aaron told Alden that she would not be dangerous, but Alden told Aaron that it is not a good idea for her to be there with her nephew due to the fact that Earl raised him since her sister left him there. After Carol and Ezekiel had sex, they have a heart to heart as Ezekiel told Carol that she has lost herself and her sense of humor. Ezekiel also brings up losing his pride and asked if they would have done it if he did not think that he was going to die tonight. Carol’s humor side comes out at that moment with the way she replied to him.

While Eugene was checking for the power, Rosita arrives (Side note, everyone is appearing out of nowhere in this episode for some reason). She was worried on how close Beta would have gotten to kill her and talked about Stephanie. Rosita then asked Eugene if he wanted to kiss her. Eugene leaned over and almost did, but he pulled back. They both come to realize that they do not want to give what The Whisperers want and that is, them in fear. Eugene however, kissed her on her cheek. Lydia looks at the heart sign of “H+L” that she made and Carol has a conversation with her about Alpha and about Carol hating herself and about people not telling the truth anymore. Lydia also feels very loney and depressed too. Everyone else is making electric barricades and Yumiko apologized to Kelly for what she said earlier and they hug. Then, a swarm of rats are running from the bushes and that signaled that the horde is coming. Eugene is singing “The Wild Wind Blows” by Iron Maiden while a montage of everyone getting ready for war is shown. Stephanie replies by singing the rest of the song. Stephanie and Eugene also talk about Rosita and Eugene calls Rosita his BFF. Then out of nowhere, Stephanie told Eugene that they are in West Virginia and to arrive at the train yard within the next week. Ezekiel and Daryl talk for a brief moment and Ezekiel reveals to Daryl that he has cancer and Daryl told him that despite them not talking that much, he understands what they are going through. They both made a pact in which if one of them goes down, the other gets the children. Judith talks about Rick Grimes and what would he have done if he was still around. She also fixes the right wing on Daryl’s vest and Daryl loves it. Daryl told Judith if he gets lost, for her and RJ to go to Ezekiel and she promises that she will.

Carol looks at the portaits of the Greene family and Daryl is looking down on Glenn’s grave. Daryl also told Carol that he will never hate her as they patched things up. At night, Daryl picks up the morning star chain weapon and everyone is positioned for battle as Aaron leads the militia. The horde and Whisperers arrive and the walkers begin to break through the electric fence. Aaron ordered the group to be split in two for both sides of the inner fence as the walkers are beginning to walk towards the thick barbed wire. The arrows from everyone else behind the shield are being shot at walkers and everyone else in the front begins to take down walkers. This continued for a few more minutes until Beta begins launching the sap bombs at the militia. One person of the militia was burned to death as they all figured out that it was flammable. Alpha gets the fire ready and Negan told her that he thought that she was going top make them join them. Alpha replies that they will literally join them as walkers and Negan thought that it was “bad ass.” Alpha readies the flaming arrows for everyone to launch and Negan even joined this. The walkers break through the thick barbed wire and Daryl told everyone to retreat since there are way too many. As they were retreating, the fire arrows that were launched from The Whisperers’ side made it to the entrance of Hilltop and everything in the front was set on fire. The episode ends as Daryl and everyone else has nowhere to go but fight the horde as the fire is behind them.

This episode reminded me of the earlier seasons of Game of Thrones where the buildup is for 80% of the episode and the other 20% of the episode is a small taste of the battle which means the episode after this one will be the full scale battle. With that aside, this is an excellent episode and there were many callbacks to earlier seasons such as the road block caused by Negan, that line Ezekiel said to Carol in early season 7 is now being said by Carol to Ezekiel, and how Daryl stared at the graves before war just like Rick did. My favorite interractions on this episode were Ezekiel and Carol as they both come to terms that they are more of themselves and not just people who are queen and king at The Kingdom. Their conversations were down to earth and I love it. Also, bonus points for Daryl and Carol not hating eachother and I am sure that the “Caryl” fans will love that too.

Carol’s scene with Lydia is some of the best dialouge of the entire season as it felt more like watching a mom and daughter have a heart to heart. Now for the start of the battle, that last 10 minutes was extremely planned well and it gave us a taste of the chaos of The Whisperer War. I also thought that it was smart for Beta to use the tree sap bombs first before everyone else launching the fire arrows. That was a slight not to not only the comic series as The Hilltop was burned top the ground by fire arrows, but to also a trick used during World War 1. I am however a bit puzzled to why the meeting location of The Commonwealth is changed from the comics as in the comics, it was in Ohio and now on the television series, it is in West Virginia. There were many scenes from the comic that were adapted, and remixed for this episode that I enjoyed and I cannot wait for the next episode!

The Walking Dead Season 10, Episode 10 “Stalker” Recap

Seth Gilliam as Father Gabriel Stokes, Christian Serratos as Rosita Espinosa, Kenric Green as Scott, Lindsley Register as Laura – The Walking Dead _ Season 10, Episode 10 – Photo Credit: Bob Mahoney/AMC

Last week’s episode of The Walking Dead showed us that no matter what obsticle is in the way, you fight and you will make it through. But not everyone made it through as Magna and Connie’s fates are unknown at this time. While everything with the cave along with Negan and Alpha cuddling in the forest, we get to see what is going on with everyone at Alexandria. Here is my recap and review of “Stalker.”

Beta enters the RV where a few Whisperers are stationed at and they open the bottom of the RV to jump inside the hole. It is a tunnel. Beta then turns on the lantern and begins walking. Rosita is with Coco and she lays her to rest. She then goes to the bathroom to get a cloth and as the camera panned back to her, we see a Whisperer ready to stab Coco. Rosita wakes up as it was just a dream. Gabriel then alerted Rosita that Gamma has arrived. Gamma is at the gates of Alexandria and everyone stops her as she took off her mask and told everyone that she knows where the horde is. Gabriel does not believe her at first, but Gamma told him that Alpha moved the horde to a cave. Gamma wants to help because her nephew is at Hilltop and Gabriel told Gamma that he would give her a map in exchange of the location of the cave. As Gabriel told them to put Gamma in the cell, Rosita punched her right in her face as she fell. Daryl is hiding from a few Whisperers while also waiting to attack. That Whisperer picks up the crossbow bolts as Daryl was about to attack, but Alpha emerges from the cave and she also brings out a number of walkers from that cave as well.

Gamma wakes up in the cell and Gabriel with Rosita visits her. Gabriel told her that the last Whisperer that was there, he killed him. Gabriel wants Gamma to convince him that she is not lying and that she would die right where she stands if she does lie. Gamma told them both her story and Gabriel does not believe her. Gamma then told Gabriel that she killed her sister for Alpha and then Gabriel begins to believe her. At the pond of the camp, Alpha is with a few walkers and Whisperers and one Whisperer behind Alpha was struck by an unseen attacker. That Whisperer falls and a walker devours him. Alpha and the two other Whisperers are across the pond and moments later, Daryl kills one Whisperer, punches Alpha, and kills the other Whisperer by stabbing them. Alpha is knocked down and the fight begins as Alpha slashed Daryl on his head and Daryl was bleeding heavily. The blood also affected his vision, but he managed to hit her with a log to knock her down and ask her if she knows where Magna and Connie are. Walkers are approaching. Daryl took some down and missed a few, but Alpha also got up and stabbed Daryl right in his thigh with her knife.

Gabriel, Laura, Rosita, and Scott have a council meeting after Gabe gives Gamma the map. Rosita and Sean thinks that it is not right to trust Gamma and Gabriel believes that she is telling the truth. Gabriel then told them that they should not be afraid of them at all and that he brought Gamma there to prove that they are cowards. Gabriel also thinks that they all completly broke Gamma and that he wants to do the same to anyone else. At an abandoned gas station, Alpha tracks Daryl down due to the blood drops he has made that allowed her to do so. Daryl is hiding at the end of the station and he grabs a metal pipe. Alpha observes the area and then proceeded to bang on the wall with her shotgun to attract walkers. Rosita and Gabriel have an argument over what he said at the council meeting and Rosita brought up that Coco is wondering where Siddiq is. Judith speaks with Gamma from outside the cell and Gamma told Judith her birthname and that she was from California. But she however does not remember much of her upbringing. Judith does not think that Gamma is a monster and Rosita then tells Judith to leave.

Alpha is still alerting walkers and three of them arrive and one of them stared at Alpha. Daryl killed those walkers although, he had trouble killing the last one. He took the knife out of his tigh and the blood leaked out like a faucet of water. Everyone is getting ready to patrol the area and Gabriel told Rosita and Laura to stay to watch the area. Gabriel then kissed Rosita and told her that he will see her soon. At night, Beta rises from Cheryl’s grave and begins his infiltration inside Alexandria. In one of the houses, Alfred was talking with another resident and when the camera changed the view, Beta was seen for a split second before the lights got cut off. Beta then begins to slice and kill every resident in that house and another house. Everyone that was killed is beginning to turn and Gabriel found a few dead bodies as well and alerted Laura and Rosita to be on the lookout. Beta is at the cell to get Gamma out. Gamma told Beta that she is not afraid of him and that she would yell for help. Beta orders Gamma to come with her. Before he can continue, Laura points her spear at Beta and told Gamma to call for help. Beta and Laura then have a small fight and Beta killed Laura by slammimng her neck across the cell bars. Gamma called for help, but Beta is already at Rosita’s house. Judith shoots Beta from one of the locked doors in another room and we for a moment thought that he was dead, but he gets up like Michael Myers and trips Gamma down. Beta and Rosita then had a fight and Beta slashed Rosita’s arms. As Beta was about to kill Rosita, Gamma put one of Beta’s knives on her neck and told him that she would kill herself if he killed Rosita. Gamma then said that Alpha needs her alive and told Beta to come to her. Beta did this. While they were walking in the forest to head back to Alpha, Gabriel and Alexandria residents attempted to ambush Beta by shooting him, but he got away. Gamma told Gabriel that she is on his side and that she did not know that he was coming.

At night, Alpha takes her mask off and is getting weaker each second as her and Daryl talk about Lydia. Alpha then passes out as she is crawling towards Daryl and then Lydia appears with Daryl’s crossbow. Alpha wants Lydia to kill her and Lydia refuses and lets her go. In the morning, Alpha wakes up and is in pain and is looking for Lydia. She reads a message that Lydia on the counter that says “YOUR WAY IS NOT THE ONLY WAY” as she grabs her knife. Meanwhile, Aaron arrives at Alexandria and alerts Gabriel of what is going on. Gabriel is then talking with Rosita as they are about to head to Hilltop. Gamma also told Rosita that her name is Mary and they are all leaving. Daryl also wakes up as Lydia was watching over him. Daryl asked Lydia if she killed her mom and she told him that she did not. The episode ends as a few Whisperers surround Alpha as they came to her aide and she looks up to the sky to do her “We are the end of the world” chant.

Seth Gilliam as Father Gabriel Stokes – The Walking Dead _ Season 10, Episode 10 – Photo Credit: Jackson Lee Davis/AMC

I love this episode and I also like it even more than the previous episode. Ryan Hurst knocked it right out of the park and it felt like I was watching a Halloween film. I also love the scene where Beta and Gamma was going back and forth especially when he tried to get her out of the cell for him to take her to Alpha and then later in the episode, Gamma then did the same exact thing as Beta was about to kill Rosita. Reverse psychology at its finest. I also thought the Gabriel scenes were very well done as Negan’s advice is that really starting to get into Gabriel’s head. And kudos to Judith for shooting Beta too. And I felt bad for Laura because Lindsley Register is an underrated actress and it would be sad to see her go.

Every scene with Alpha and Daryl was great too and Lydia being in the middle of all of this made the scene with her and Alpha very sad, but yet also very good. And I will give a good praise to the VFX team for making Daryl’s vision get drastically affected due to the blood pouring over his eyes. There is a lot of suspense and action on this episode and I would fully recommend it!

The Walking Dead Episodes 10×12 and 10×13 Airdates Revealed

Danai Gurira as Michonne, Cailey Fleming as Judith Grimes – The Walking Dead _ Season 10, Episode 8 – Photo Credit: Gene Page/AM8

The back half of the tenth season of AMC’s The Walking Dead has returned last weekend and one episode everyone is looking forward to is the final episode Danai Gurira portrays Michonne. That episode will premiere within the next month.

A representative of AMC confirmed to me that 10×12 and 10×13’s airdates have been switched so Michonne’s final episode that was shot as the twelth episode, will air as the thirteenth episode and vice-versa for the other episode. The synopsis of that episode titled “What We Become” is the following: “Michonne takes Virgil back to his island to find his family; in exchange, Virgil offers weapons.” Little information is known about the episode besides what has been shown in small teasers and trailers. This will also most likely be the episode where Michonne wields Negan’s Lucille too.

The other episode that was shot as 10×13 which will now premiere as 10×12 is titled “Walk With Us” and the synopsis is “With Negan’s help, Alpha and the Whisperers attack Hilltop.” Since The Whisperer War adaptation of the TV series is starting soon, this must be when The Whisperers burned Hilltop to the ground with the flaming arrows as it happened in the comic book series.

The last time this happened for episodes that swapped airdates was back in season 7 as “The Cell” and “The Well” were swapped.

Also, both episodes will premiere on AMC Premiere two days before the live airing on that sunday.

The Walking Dead Season 10, Episode 9 “Squeeze” Recap

The Walking Dead has returned for the second half of the tenth season this week and it picks up right from where it last left off as members of Alexandria are stuck in the cave that Alpha lured them to. Who makes it out alive and who does not? Here is my recap of “Squeeze.”

The episode opens as Daryl, Carol, Aaron, Jerry, Connie, Magna, and Kelly are stuck in the cave full of thousands of walkers, They all look around for an exit and Carol notices Alpha at the very top from where they fell into the cave. Carol screams at Alpha and after this, Alpha exited the cave and told a few Whisperers to make sure that they do not go out as she tosses her torch to the ground. Daryl comes up with a plan to jump on to large boulders to get to the other side. They all do exactly that one by one. Connie and Kelly were concerd due to Kelly’s injured ankle. When Kelly jumped, she was almost devoured by the dead. When they all reached the other side, walkers tried to reach their arms out to the group and the group fought them off including when Jerry cut the arm off one of the walkers. Daryl then used that walker arm as a torch and Kelly, Aaron, and Jerry were talking about what they would do for food and that it is clearly Alpha’s horde.

Magna blames Carol for getting them all in that situation and even asked her why did she run towards Alpha in the first place and Aaron and Daryl told her that they did not have time to fight. Outside of the cave, Negan is seen eating with a few Whisperers while Alpha has a conversation with Beta and Gamma. Alpha says that they found the horde and also told Gamma to go to the border to look out for other members of the communities. All of this is going on and Negan is still eating. Back at the cave and Carol is having water being poured into her drinking canister. Connie and Kelly talk about whether if it is dark or light outside, but Connie does not want to worry about it too much. Daryl and Carol also have a conversation and Daryl does not want to be shut out by her anymore as he will always be there for her. Carol also does not only want to kill Alpha, she wants to hurt her for everything that she put her and every community through. Daryl sympathizes with her as he feels the same way and Carol told him that she did not mean for all of this to happen. Also to note, Carol told Daryl that she is claustrophobic. Daryl wants to know if she can promise him that they are on the same team and that they are fighting for their future and not for revenge.

Magna then goes to another area of the cave and lights a match. She observed the area until a Whisperer run towards her. Magna killed that Whisperer, and more were approaching after that. Daryl and everyone else took care of them and killed them. Daryl asked where did they come from and Jerry noticed a sign going left (Also, Jerry said that he knows road signs when he sees them). They followed the sign. While Alpha was using a makeshift bathroom, Negan tells her that there is a spy among The Whisperers. Negan compares himself to Alpha and says that they are exactly the same. Alpha disagrees and told him that they are different. Negan calls Beta Frakenstein and says that Gamma is the spy. Alpha places her knife on his crotch and told him that if he is lying, that she will cut “them” off. She then pushes him down.

Daryl found an opening and told everyone to follow his voice. Connie then checks on Carol due to her phobia and everyone squeezes through. Carol was afraid to go through the tight space and he told her that she would be okay. She made it through. Jerry told everyone else that did not go through to remain silent because he hears noise. Jerry sees that walkers are crawling through the tight space behind him and as everyone else in front of him gets through safely, Jerry becomes stuck for a moment while he is kicking away the walkers. Jerry finally gets through and Daryl and Aaron killed those two crawling walkers. They all check Jerry’s boot and he was safe as the walkers bit his boot and it was thick enough to not contact his foot inside the boot. They all also realize that they are close to getting out and that they are above Alpha’s horde. Daryl tossed the torch into the wide space of the horde. Now everyone is walking through the mine section of the cave and then we go back to Alpha as she asks Beta if he seen Gamma. Beta told Alpha that she never made it to the border. Beta says that he will kill Gamma if she betrayed them and Alpha told him that she will deal with Gamma when she sees her.

Kelly found a stack of dynamite in the mines and and Jerry told Kelly to put it back since he suspects that it could be a trap (also, Carol looked right at the dynamite the second Kelly found it). Magna mentioned that she wanted to fix things with Yumiko as they were clearing the logs. Negan is with a Whisperer and Alpha called for Negan to walk with her. Negan is not used to long silences as he thought it was disturbing since all she is telling him to do is to look forward and keep walking. Alpha then told him to stop and undress until he is naked. Negan tried to talk his way out of it and told her that she was right and that they are very different. Negan is then told to turn around and Alpha is completely naked (her mask is still on). Alpha wants to thank Negan for not lying to her and she does this by wanting to have with with him. Negan asked if this was a “preying mantis” situation and she did not say that she would kill him afterwards. The two kiss as they are about to engage in sex.

At the cave, they breakthrough a hole and Kelly notices that they are at the exit of the cave. Carol is missing again as she went with the dynamite. At the same time, everyone begins to escape, and Daryl saves Carol as she wanted to blow up the boulder to take out half of the horde. The cave then begins to come down due to the explosion and Jerry tries his best to keep the pillar up. Connie wanted to see if Daryl and Carol is okay. As Kelly and Aaron was outside, they fight off a few Whisperers and kill them. Magna and Connie does the same thing while they were in the cave about to exit. Everyone exited the cave except for Magna and Connie as another explosion happened which caused for the exit to crash down while Connie and Magna were still there. Carol blames herself for this happening and she wanted to be taken to The Whisperers and she also wanted Daryl to tell her that she is the blame. Daryl tried to dig through, but Aaron and Kelly told him that it would take too long to try this as Whisperers could be coming from miles away. Daryl says that they know where the horde is as they all leave. The episode ends as Connie and Magna’s fates are unknown since they did not escape.

This episode is a great way for The Walking Dead to return from the fall break as it did not waste any time to continue right where we left off. Seeing everyone trying to squeeze through the tight spaces of the cave really brought in that tension and fear of them all getting stuck. I am still questioning why Carol is being written that way with making poor decisions that affected the group during this whole season so far. I do not want to go on the “Carol blame train”, but there is no way to go just ignore that this has been happening all season and to find excuses to justify it.

The few moments that I thought that Jerry was doomed was great storytelling and it proved that anyone of any size could be stuck in the cave and could have a hard time getting out. I also hope that Magna and Connie are not done for good. Also, I would like to see more of Negan and Alpha interracting as they have a chemistry as much as Negan and Beta did. However, them getting naked together was bizzare, but it made sense for who Alpha is. Now that almost everyone is out of the cave, what is next for everyone?

What Would a Daryl and Connie Date Look Like on The Walking Dead

Today is Valentine’s Day and everyone around the world are celebrating love all day long. When love is in the air, it is a great feeling to see couples embracing that they are together and even yourself if you have a significant other. In the world of The Walking Dead, nobody knows when Valentine’s Day arrives since many people in the post-apocalyptic world does not keep track on what month it is depending on where they are located. In The Walking Dead, Daryl Dixon and Connie are not officially in a relationship. But due to their chemistry together, fans have wanted them to be together (including Angela Kang) so much, that they were unofficially called “Donnie.” But what would a normal date between these two would look like in the world of The Walking Dead?

Crossbow Training

Daryl wields a crossbow and it has been his signature weapon since the start of the show. In fact, he has had three different crossbows during the series. We have yet to see Connie use Daryl’s crossbows during their time together, so these two can go in a quiet area, tie down a walker to a tree, and use that walker as a target for all of the crossbow bolts to pierce. Maybe Connie could turn this into a game to see who gets the most points. Side note, why have I not seen the PSE Fang model that Daryl temporary had from seasons 7-8? It is my favorite crossbow model!

Carnival

If Rick and Michonne could have a date at the carnival while trying to save a CGI deer, then so can Daryl and Connie as they can both go to that abandoned carnival that Rick and Michonne were once in. Connie could also most likely get Eugene to turn on the power so that way, they could enjoy the rides and games that are over there!

Fishing at The Oceanside

Daryl and Connie could not only enjoy the beach area at The Oceanside, they could also enjoy fishing over there too. Maybe Connie would also come up with a good idea to borrow one of their boats so that way, her and Daryl could be alone and away from every walker on land and away from the daily drama that stresses both of them out. Plus, not only would this date be good, but they would also bring home more fish for everyone.

Costume Party

I know that this would involve almost everyone at every community, but the thought of Daryl and Connie playing dress up for a party would be interesting. Who knows, maybe Connie might joke with Daryl and tell him to put on the Savior prisoner jumpsuit and Daryl could respond by telling her to put on a Whisperer mask or Negan’s jacket before they go to a costume party at Alexandria. Fun for a thought would you think?

A day in the park with Judith

Daryl, Connie, and Judith at the park would be a great day as this would be bonding time with all three of them. In fact, maybe add RJ to the mix too along with all of the children in each community. Daryl and Connie could watch them all play kids games that they used to do when they were their age and before the world went bad. Of course, Judith would not play tag with any walkers at all. Speaking of which, We need more scenes with Connie and Judith on the show!

These are some of the ideas I had in my head and I am sure that there are more that I can think of after this article is published. I also asked everyone on twitter who is their favorite The Walking Dead couple and the responses have been more Donnie in favor of the others. To be fair, Before Donnie existed, the fans were either Caryl (Carol and Daryl), or Beth and Daryl. I do like these responses however!

My Non-Spoiler Preview of The Walking Dead Episodes 10×09 and 10×10

Last fall, the mid-season finale of the tenth season of The Walking Dead ended with some of our fan favorite characters stuck in a cave as Alpha lured the group into a deadly trap. The mid-season premiere of The Walking Dead is in a matter of a few weeks away and I got a chance to watch the first two episodes of the second half. Here are my non-spoiler thoughts of The Walking Dead season 10, episode 9 titled “Squeeze” and the following episode “Stalker.”

10×09: “Squeeze”

The Daryl and Carol scenes on this episode were done really well and I am glad that the writers acknowledge that Carol is claustrophobic which was first mentioned a long time ago in the earlier seasons. Now that Carol is in a life and death situation, she had to overcome her fear of it during this episode. The scenes of everyone going through the tight spaces of the cave made me claustrophobic myself just by watching it. Daryl was the lead of the escape of the cave, but everyone played a good part of coming up with ideas on how to escape while they were trapped down there.

There were also times where two characters got into a near death experience in this episode and one of them happened at the middle of the episode. I was convinced that this person was going to be gone due to the very tight space. However, not everyone makes it out of the cave as the fate of some characters were left unknown after the escape. I wish I can say who it is, but I cannot so you will have to wait until the episode airs. Also to note, there is a head-shaking (and also tense) moment involving Carol in this episode that would make you question why would she do that in the first place. I have praised Melissa McBride in my past reviews with Carol’s mental state following how much Alpha put her through. But this time, I just hope that the payoff would be worth all the questionable decisions she has done so far this season. I know that previous characters were put in thye same situation as her and I called it out, but it is frustrating to see it happen with Carol episode after episode.

The Negan and Alpha scenes were very good and some of the dialouge were straight from the source materiel (Issues #155 and #156). There is one moment however that will be talked about through The Walking Dead community after this controversail scene will be shown to the world. In fact, I believe it will be the most memorable scene of the entire season as far as shock value it will be. I will also warn everyone to not watch this scene with your children too. I will give it a slight praise since it fits who Alpha is as a person and as the leader of The Whisperers.

Overall, “Squeeze” is a great episode and it does not waste any time to get back to where it left off. And Kudos to Beta for just being there towering over everyone.

10×10: “Stalker”

I have to get this out of the way right now, Beta in this episode is fantastic! Not only does he stalks from within like he is Michael Myers, but he also does brutal killings in this episode. Also, he is involved with two of the three fights on this episode. Also, I noted on my review of 9×13 that Beta has armor under his clothes during his fight with Daryl which is a detail that mostly everyone missed at the time, but it will be useful again in this episode too (Side note, my review of 9×13 is shorter due to me traveling that week). Gabriel will also get high praise from me on this episode too as his advice from Negan earlier this season is starting to really showcase for him especially his conversations with Gamma. Speaking of Gamma, you will all love it when Rosita does what Rick did to Aaron when he first meet him.

Daryl has a fight in this episode with Alpha and I not only loved that scene, I love how the VFX team used the blood on the cameras for Daryl’s eyesight during that fight. Alpha also has a great scene later in the episode as she is finally able to accept what she could not earlier this season. There are also spooky moments that happen at night on this episode too that I cannot give away, but the theme of paranormia returns on this episode too and Rosita will experience that on this episode. I wish I can say more of the episode, but it will be more spoilery than the last episode, but I liked this episode over “Squeeze” and it felt like the first half of the season was the buildup like a bomb fuse being light up and the beginning of the second half is the explosion.

Be sure to check out my full review of “Squeeze” on Feburary 23rd after the episode airs.

Interview: Kelley Mack on her Time on The Walking Dead, Growing up With Her Family, and Producing Film.

Kelley Mack is known on The Walking Dead as Adeline who was a resident at The Hiltop. Adeline meet her demise back in season 9 as part of Alpha’s pike border victims. But before she was on the hit AMC series, she has directed and produced films such as A Knock at the Door, The Printer, and The Perfect One. She also has won awards for her roles including winning the award for the best leading actress on Simón, at the Madrid International Film Festival, the Student Visionary Award and Best Actress for her role on The Elephant Garden at the Tribeca Film Festival and the First Run Festival. With all of those accomplishments to her name plus more, Kelley Mack’s future is very bright. I recently got the chance to interview Kelley Mack as we go over her time on The Walking Dead and much more on this exclusive interview!

I would like to get to know more about you. What was it like for you to grow up in Ohio and what drew you into acting?

KM: “I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and most of my extended family lives in the Midwest. But I actually moved around a lot because of my dad’s jobs, so I grew up in several different states around the country! I think that upbringing caused me to be really adaptable to new situations and people, which translates really well to acting/constantly playing different characters and always working in different locations/environments. My mom was a theater minor in college, and she was the one who got my brother, sister and I into acting and taking us to auditions. Since I was so young, I didn’t totally understand what was happening, just that it was tons of fun and I got to meet a wide variety of people, which I absolutely loved and still do. Learning about different types of people, cultures, places, etc. (the research) is probably my favorite part of the acting process now.”

After you won your award from Tisch School of the Arts, you decided to step away from acting for a while and started to study film production. Was it because you found another passion, or was it for another reason that you stepped away for a while?

KM: “I think part of it was rebellion against my mom, who really wanted me to pursue acting because she thought I had a talent for it. But I also loved playing with cameras around that time. I was the one with video camera off to the side at family holidays and get togethers, just loving being a fly on the wall and capturing candid moments. So I went on to study film production & cinematography in college, where I realized a passion for cameras and pulling focus, but not so much for lighting. It’s such a challenging, important position on set (like every role), and it just didn’t click with me. I also did several internships at production companies and talent agencies, which by process of elimination, really, revealed to me that acting was my main true passion.”

What were some new things that you had to adjust to when you started producing films compared to acting at the time?

KM: “I started producing and taking my first official acting classes right around the same time, so I was really adjusting to both. Spending hours & hours preparing auditions, coordinating a film from beginning to end as a producer all while being a freelancer jumping from gig to gig to pay the bills. I have produced four shorts mostly so I could have more footage for my acting reel, but I discovered how much I enjoy producing and am quite good at it. Producing is definitely more of a left-brain job, which actually makes sense for me since I’m kind of type A. I love filling out paperwork, scheduling, spreadsheets, the whole thing… haha. So in that regard, it’s different from acting, which is way less concrete and of course doesn’t deal as much (at least in auditioning) with all the other areas of production. I’m still adjusting to both & learning every day, which is my favorite!”

How did you get your role as Adeline (Addy) on The Walking Dead?

Jackson Pace as Gage, Joe Ando-Hirsh as Rodney, Kelly Mack as Addy – The Walking Dead _ Season 9, Episode 8 – Photo Credit: Gene Page/AMC

KM: “My agent sent me a self tape audition email, I read for a character different than Addy, and then didn’t hear anything for a few weeks. I then got another self tape request, with the same lines, but the character description was a bit different. So I re-taped the same scene with the differences in mind (Addy was described as a bit more bookish and good-hearted than the previous character), then sent it in. My agent called me about a week later on a Monday morning saying that I was the pick for the role, then they asked for my demo reel, which we immediately sent over to the TWD team. A few hours later, they said I was booked and to fly to Atlanta for my fitting the very next day – which happened to be my birthday!”

What are some of your favorite memories being at The Hilltop and did you see any of the other communities during your time on the show?

KM: “The clearest memory is when Jackson Pace and I were driven to Hilltop for the first time – the crops leading up to the big fence and smelling all the food cooking and hearing all the animals – it just felt like woah, I’m home! It was really cool – such a spectacular set. I also of course loved my scenes with Norman Reedus – he’s a cool guy, and so kind. And other than working with people from the Kingdom and the Whisperer communities, we (Jackson, Joe Andi-Hirsh and I) also shot a short scene with the Highwaymen. Our shots when the Hilltop community meets them on the road were cut but it was really cool working with them & the horses that episode.”

You have any stories working with Alanna Masterson and Matt Lintz?

KM: “I don’t really have any crazy stories, but if I had to describe Alanna in a few words, I’d say she’s a chill badass. Matt is really sweet and kinda quiet & shy. He is in a family of actors, and because he was a minor, his parents were closeby on set most of the time. It was cool getting to know them more and seeing their unconditional support of him and his siblings’ careers.”

When did you know that Addy was going to be one of Alpha’s pike victims?

KM: “I found out via a phone call from one of the SFX makeup people while I was on set filming episode 913. It was pretty last minute! I was only supposed to be in 2 episodes originally, so I was grateful to have been able to work on five of them and hadn’t anticipated that I’d stay on the show for too long.”

How did you prepare for the scene at the barn where the tragedy took place over there?

KM: “I just did my normal script work preparation for the scene emotionally, and the stunt choreography all just happened right before we shot it, so there was nothing to really prepare in that regard. I mostly prepped myself for shooting my last episode of the show! The barn scene was actually the very last scene I shot and wrap was really emotional. Even though it was FREEZING that night, everyone waited until the very end of all the coverage so that all the characters killed off could say their goodbyes in a big circle; some people who have been involved in the show for a long time gave speeches… it was really intense and so sad!”

I have spoken to Avi Nash (Siddiq) recently about having Dante forcing Siddiq to watch his friends getting killed by Alpha. How did it feel for you when you seen that play out on television this season?

KM: “Well it was heartbreaking, of course! I get completely wrapped up in character stories, and when one is killed off in such a brutal and unimaginable way, it hits you. And also, from an acting perspective, the actors I admire & respect are truly feeling the emotions the character is going through on screen (in one way or another), so seeing someone experience loss, pain, etc. really reveals parts of that actor as a human-being. And that’s just so touching to be let into that person’s psyche a little bit and be able to connect with them on an emotional level, even if it’s via a television screen.”

Another film you have been part of is Profile and being that I am into the horror genre of that movie type (Other examples such as The Den, Unfriended, etc), I am intrigued to see it. Do you know when it will be available here in the United States?

KM: “I actually don’t! I know it has done quite well overseas in various festivals, but I haven’t even seen it myself yet!”

What are your upcoming projects that you would like to share?

KM: “I recently shot a film in Chicago called Broadcast Signal Intrusion, with Harry Shum Jr. and Chris Sullivan. I was hooked on the story and my character from the moment I got the audition. It could be described as a technological conspiracy thriller, and was inspired by actual broadcast signal hijackings in 1980s Chicago (the Max Headroom Incidents), which were never solved by the FBI. My character Alice is kind of a lost soul on a string of terrible luck, all while being a total street-smart badass. It was a super fun & challenging character to play, and I’m excited for the movie to come out, probably in late 2020!”

What are some of your hobbies that you enjoy outside of acting and producing film?

KM: “I played tennis competitively from age 8 through college, and now, I enjoy playing for fun when I can find someone to hit with. I also play piano and have a keyboard in my bedroom. I mostly play 90’s pop ballads and classical music haha, with some movie scores mixed in there. And of course reading, watching tv & movies, and I love hiking!”

What are some goals that you would like to accomplish within the next few years?

KM: “I would love to be part of producing a feature in the next few years. I’ve produced several shorts, but want to find the right script that I’m passionate about to make the jump to full-length film. Also, personally, I have a pretty long bucket list, so I’m planning to cross more of those off – hopefully several of the ones that involve traveling!”

Top 10 The Walking Dead Comic Book Moments of 2019

The comic book series of The Walking Dead has come to an end many months ago and it was sad to see it end out of nowhere. As a reader since 2004, this hit me the hardest. But with that out of the way, there are a number of issues that were released that leads up to the final issue and those issue had very important moments that needs to be discussed. Here are my top 10 moments of 2019 of The Walking Dead comic book series. Here is also my list for 2018 and 2017.

10. Time Skip (#193: The Farm House)

After Rick Grimes’ death on Issue #192, we did not know where the story would go next. But after a few pages in the next issue, We see that Carl Grimes aged about twenty years. This made my jaw drop and not only we see him, but we see most of the other characters aged too and are currently living at The Commonwealth. However, the person that made this all happen to begin with Stephanie, did not make it as Eugene mentioned that she has died. Speaking of Eugene, he and the repair unit finally got the train to run. There are many great things that we have seen in this issue after the time jump.

9. The Breakout (#189: Lines Are Drawn)

The cover of this issue had to be looked at twice because I initinally did not realize that the explosion was from the cell Mercer was stationed at. Laura came up with a plan to use explosives to break Mercer out. She did exactly that and everyone heard it. This of course lead to Mercer and The Commonwealth soldiers staging an uprising to dethrow Pamela once in for all, but that did not work……yet.

8. Taking out Walkers with a Fire Extinguisher (#189: Lines Are Drawn)

The end of issue #188 shows us that there is a horde approaching while Eugene and Stephanie are fixing the train. On this issue, they not only take out the walkers, but they use a fire extinguisher to help take out the walkers too. This was a cool moment as Eugene thought what could be the quickest way to take them out on the spot. He is very resourceful and he proved it there at that moment.

7. The Standoff (#190: Storm The Gates)

After Rick and members of his group help clear walkers that were inside an area of The Commonwealth, Rick and Maggie talk for a second and then, Pamela and her soldiers arrive on the opposite side. Pamela thinks that Rick is lying about taking over The Commonwealth and Rick assured her that he did not know that Maggie and the rest were coming and that he was not going to try to take over. So what does Pamela do after hearing enough of Rick Grimes? She orders an attach on Rick Grimes and his entire group. Fun fact, the ending of this issue is similar to the ending of issue #119 where Negan calls for an attack after the zombified Holly was revealed.

6. Rick and Michonne (#187: The Road Back)

After Rick had to kill Dwight for attempting to kills Pamela, She congradulates him at the gathering at The Commonwealth. Michonne apologized to Rick for having him do that but Rick would not accept her apology (at first). Michonne said that it was her fault for creating that bad situation but Rick told her that he was going to die no matter what since he is a lose cannon. What they both agreed on is that they both do not want to bring chaos to The Commonwealth at all as they both want to change things over there for the better.

5. “We are NOT The Walking Dead” (#191: The Last Stand)

This is one of the best callbacks I have seen in the comic book series in quite some time and this time, this line is far better executed than in issue #24. Rick says this line due to the fact that he believes in The Commonwealth and that he would fight and kill for it since he sees the potential that they have. He also believes that the place has a gift to bring back how things were before the apoclapse and that they do not have to go back to the brutal beginnings of the apoclapse of how they survive and how the old ways of The Comonwealth were used for everyone that is not in the same ranking as the higher ups. He wants everyone to be equal and this lead to her soldiers turning on her and putting her in jail temporary. The words of Rick Grimes can affect everyone he is surrounded by.

4. The Princess’ Backstory (#187: The Road Back)

Since her debut issue at #171, little is known about The Princess. Here on this issue, we finally get a backstory to who she is. While her and Mercer were talking, this is where her baackstory begins. Her parents divorced and her mom married someone else. Also, she was abused by her stepfather and stepbrother when she was younger and would also be tied up and being put in a closet. It was these events that made her believe that men are monsters which affected her until her and Mercer meet.

3. Sabastain Shoots Rick Grimes (#191: The Last Stand)

By the end of this shocking issue, Sebastain is very angry at Rick for having Pamela getting arrested for attempting to attacking his entire group. So what does Sebastain do, He points his gun at Rick, and shoots him at his chest. I thought that he would survive, but this lead to…..

2. Rick Grimes’ Death (#192: Aftermath)

That is right, Rick’s death. I know this may be unpopular, but I like how his death was handled. No character was safe ever since the series started and every year before this issue, we envisioned how Rick would die in the comic book series. It is very realistic for this to happen as I compare Sebastain to Joffrey of Game of Thrones and they both wanted to rule over a large establishment. So after Sebastain continues to shoot Rick, he dies on the bed and in the morning, it was Carl that found Rick who is now a walker as he put him down.

1.The Trials (#193: The Farm House)

The final issue of the series comes with a happy ending and that is, Carl telling his daughter Andrea “The Trials” of what the world was like at the beginning of the apoclapse to right now. Those stories included what Rick Grimes would do to protect everyone and how he is seen as a leader. As Carl was telling her the tsory from the book, we have a page montage of almost every character in different locations of The Commonwealth enjoying life at the current timeline while Sebastain is still in jail for killing Rick. Side note, we finally seen Negan again for the first time since issue #174 and he is at The Commonwealth near Lucille’s grave. This was a great ending to the series.
