Snoopy museum coming to Tokyo

image

there’s always something new popping up in the neighborhoods of Tokyo. This time the new kid isn’t so new, welcome to the Snoopy Museum.

image

Set to open it’s doors around March of 2016, the Snoopy Museum Tokyo is a “cooperative” effort between   Sony Creative Products and the Charles M. Schulz Museum.

The Snoopy Museum will display original artwork, vintage memorabilia, and other related artifacts on loan from the Research Center on a rotating, six-month basis.

image

Advance tickets will become available this December, with pricing details yet to be announced. Oddly enough, the Snoopy Museum is being planned as a non-permanent (similar to the John Lennon museum) facility, and is tentatively scheduled to close its doors for good in September of 2018, we already have our eyes set on it.

STAR WARS’ WOOKIEE WARRIOR TAKES THE SPOTLIGHT IN CHEWBACCA#1

image

New Star Wars series from Gerry Duggan and Phil Noto gives “Chewie” his due this October

New York, NY—July 15th, 2015— Legendary and relentlessly loyal Wookiee warrior, Chewbacca, has continued to battle the empire in the hopes of restoring freedom to the galaxy. Through unwavering and steadfast devotion to the rebel cause Chewbacca has always stood on the frontline to bring peace to a galaxy far, far away. This October, Chewbacca, along with an unlikely side-kick, proves why he is one of the fiercest warriors among the stars in CHEWBACCA #1from writer Gerry Duggan and artist Phil Noto.

Known for his big heart, short temper, and booming voice, Duggan plans to get to the core of what makes Chewbacca one of the strongest warriors in the Star Wars universe.  Speaking with Marvel.com, Gerry Duggan says, “He’s a hero, plain and simple. He’s a giant-sized underdog. He’s faithful, fierce, and can be playful. At the beginning of the story he’s on a very important mission. One he sets aside to help those in need. By the end of this arc we’ll have met the soul of the Wookiee. We’ll understand what he fears, and we’ll know why he picked up his bowcaster. Yes, this story will be an action-packed thriller, but I think it has a very strong Wookiee heart, too.”

Accompanying Chewbacca in this brand new series is a young and feisty co-star, Zarro, whose home comes under attack from the Empire and Duggan and Noto are excited to show how this unlikely pair take on the ruthless grip of the Empire. “Zarro’s home is under threat, and when others shrink, she stands tall,” says Duggan. “At first glance, she sees Chewie as the extra muscle she needs. The brains attached to those muscles will be a surprise for her….and I think how Chewie and Zarro manage to deal with the threat will be a fun surprise for fans. Both Phil and I are so excited to be collaborating on a Star Wars comic. The term ‘dream project’ is probably overused, but there is simply no other way to describe the gig. If fans have half as much fun as we do, then everybody’s in for a fun ride.”

Don’t call him a fuzz ball. Don’t call him a walking carpet. This is Chewbacca – fierce and loyal warrior of Kashyyyk in a brand new Star Wars series coming from Marvel this October!

Also, be sure to catch up on the blockbuster Marvel series – STAR WARS and DARTH VADER – from the very beginning! Pre-order STAR WARS VOL. 1: SKYWALKER STRIKES and DARTH VADER VOL. 1 on sale later this year!

“Seriously, I’m having a blast writing the banter,” Kelly continued, “It’s your favorite buddy-cop movie on steroids if it was written by a swill-minded teenager.”

To stop them it will take more than one Daywalker. And in each other, Eric and Fallon may just discover the purpose they’ve each been struggling to find. Bestselling Novelist Chuck Palahniuk Joins the Cast of FIGHT CLUB 2, The Acclaimed Comic Book Mini-series From Dark Horse Comics

For Immediate Release: Bestselling Novelist Chuck Palahniuk Joins the Cast of FIGHT CLUB 2,

The Acclaimed Comic Book Mini-series From Dark Horse Comics

July 8, 2015: Timed to the launch of San Diego Comic-Con International, Dark Horse Comics announced today that bestselling novelist Chuck Palahniuk will be a character in the acclaimed ten issue FIGHT CLUB 2 mini series, which is written by Palahniuk, illustrated by Cameron Stewart and colored by Dave Stewart, with covers by David Mack. Issue 3 of the series, on sale July 22, confirms Palahniuk as a character in the series, where he will be a reoccurring presence along with his iconic creations Tyler Durden and Marla Singer. Issue 4 of the series promises to further up the ante and the antics with an appearance by members of Palahniuk’s real life writing group, including the novelists Chelsea Cain, Monica Drake, Lidia Yuknavitch, Suzy Vitello and Diana Jordan.

“Literary critics claim that Ken Kesey’s mental hospital in CUCKOO’S NEST and Toni Morrison’s plantation in BELOVED represent those authors’ post-graduate writing workshops,” said Chuck Palahniuk. “To prevent anyone from thinking my own workshop is either a support group for the terminally ill or a bare-knuckle mosh pit, I’ve included it in FIGHT CLUB 2.”

“Consider FIGHT CLUB’s cultural impact, and you have to imagine its impact, and Tyler’s impact, on Chuck himself,” said Dark Horse Comics Editor-in-Chief Scott Allie. “Fans sometimes blur the line between the artist and the work, and having lived with these characters for twenty years, Chuck’s diving head on into it here. Authors from Philip Roth to Bret Easton Ellis to Grant Morrison have popped up in their own work before, but Chuck’s taking it into all new territory, doing what he always does—giving you an experience no one else can provide.”

“By openly acknowledging the mechanics of film, David Fincher made his version seem more real and more mythic at the same time,” said Palahniuk. “By dragging my own creative process into FC2 I’m doing the equivalent of demonstrating splices, reel change-over marks, film breaks and rattling the film in the movie projector gate.”

Palahniuk enthusiasts at Comic-Con will want to track down two FIGHT CLUB exclusives. An SDCC exclusive FIGHT CLUB 2 issue 1 comic book, with a cover by Joelle Jones, will be available at the Dark Horse Booth (Booth # 2615) while supplies last. Meanwhile the Penguin Random House booth (Booth # 1519/1520) will be selling a Rare Bird Lit SDCC exclusive edition of the vinyl audiobook release of Palahniuk’s FIGHT CLUB prequel story “Expedition.” The short story takes place before the events of the bestselling FIGHT CLUB novel and is an origin story of Tyler Durden. The vinyl audiobook features Palahniuk reading “Expedition” from Doubleday’s bestselling short story collection MAKE SOMETHING UP: STORIES YOU CAN’T UNREAD, accompanied by music by Brian Jonestown Massacre’s Rob Campanella and featuring album art by FIGHT CLUB 2 cover artist David Mack.

At SDCC, Palahniuk will participate in two high profile panels:

Saturday, July 10, 2015

3:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.                     DARK HORSE TAKES OVER THE WORLD (Room 7AB)

From Hellboy to Fight Club 2, there are a lot of reasons for Dark Horse fans to get excited for the coming year in comics. Dark Horse president and publisher Mike Richardson and Dark Horse creators Mike Mignola, Chuck Palahniuk, Jeff Lemire, Eric Powell, and Matt Kindt bring fans a sneak peek of what to pick up at Comic-Con and beyond.

7:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.                     FIGHT CLUB 2 panel (Room 5AB)

Acclaimed novelist Chuck Palahniuk continues one of his most beloved works with FIGHT CLUB 2! Join Dark Horse for a discussion of the creation of this story with Chuck Palahniuk, editor Scott Allie, artist David Mack, and artist Cameron Stewart.

Fans attending the FIGHT CLUB 2 panel are encouraged to dress as Tyler Durden and Marla Singer at the FIGHT CLUB event. During that same panel, an announcement will be made about the previously rumored scratch-and-sniff FIGHT CLUB 2 bookmarks.

Palahniuk will also participate in two signings:

Friday, July 10

5:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m. MAKE SOMETHING UP Signing

(Penguin Random House Booth #1520)

Doubleday will be giving away free copies of MAKE SOMETHING UP and free FIGHT CLUB wristbands.  No other memorabilia allowed.

Sunday, July 12
