Review – Broken Pieces 1 & 2
from Bill, March 18th, 2012 8:17 pm, Comic Book Reviews

By Bill Liston

Over the last few months I have reading Aspen Comic’s Charismagic, Haunted City & Dead Man’s Run.  In each issue was a beautiful ad for Broken Pieces.  Needless to say, I had to pick to pick issue 1 up to see what this comic was all about.

Broken Pieces is set in the year 2033 and tells the story of two scientists, Gabriella & Richard Adams, who are hired by the Trinion Corporation to cure the world.   They need to cure the world because a Biologic Bomb was detonated over the Gulf of Mexico and is causing the havoc on the worlds population.  Trinion Lead Director, Damon Ludas, has hired the Adams to make everything right.  Unfortunately things don’t go as planned.  The research done by the Adams turns a dead corpse into a monster and Gabriella uncovers a report on “Project Trefoil” that indicates Trinion might have been behind the Bio-Bomb.

Issue 2 begins with a flashback to Richard meeting Gabriella’s mother, so we get to see him before he is was brilliant scientist.  Broken Pieces does a masterful job of jumping around from flashback to current day events which keeps the reader fully engrossed in the story.  The writing by Mark Roslan,  features some great dialogue that is believable and honest.  However, the greatest accomplishment in Broken Pieces is that the relationship dynamic between Richard & Gabriella is gripping and makes you want to believe that against all odds that they will somehow get through all this drama.  Without giving too much away, there is a great set of panels where an lab accident occurs that you really feel the bond between the two and really end up rooting for the couple.

Broken Pieces is set to run for 5 issues and Issue 2 is out Now.  Issue 3 hits stands May 23rd
