August 11, 2015 (Los Angeles, Calif.) BOOM! Box, an imprint of award-winning publisher BOOM! Studios, takes to the skies for adventure this September with Tyson Hesse’s Diesel. Hop aboard the airship Peacetowne as Tyson Hesse (Bravest Warriors, The Amazing World of Gumball) brings readers an original coming-of-age fantasy in the vein of Amulet and Hayao Miyazaki’s Howl’s Moving Castle.

In the series: Dee Diesel isn’t very good at anything. The daughter of the late Tungston Diesel, she has yet to live up to her father’s great reputation. Her rival has inherited control of her family’s airship and left Dee the only job she’s qualified for: working in a two-bit garage. But all that changes when a mysterious flying engine crashes into Dee’s life and takes her on a journey through the skies.

“Tyson did an awesome job on covers for Adventure Time and Bravest Warriors, and his work on The Amazing World of Gumball left us in stitches with his flair for characterization,” said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. “Diesel is his first original series, and it’s an incredible debut! You’ve got airship fights, robots, and a mysterious flying engine. At the same time, you also have the story of a young woman trying to find her place in the world while standing in her famous father’s shadow. Tyson has created a stunning new world that’s coming your way this September!”

Tyson Hesse’s Diesel #1 (of 4) arrives in comic shops on September 9th with a main cover by series artist Tyson Hesse for the price of $3.99 under Diamond order code JUL151092. ‘Giant Days’ Extended to a 12-Issue Series, Special ‘Orientation Edition’ Released

Giant Days: Orientation Edition Cover by John Allison
Giant Days: Orientation Edition Cover by John Allison

June 4, 2015 (Los Angeles, Calif.) – BOOM! Box, an imprint of award-winning publisher BOOM! Studios, is thrilled to announce that Giant Days, the comedic slice-of-life series from creator John Allison (Bad Machinery, Scary Go Round) and artist Lissa Treiman, has graduated from a six-issue miniseries to a 12-issue maxiseries due to popular demand.

In celebration, BOOM! Box will be re-releasing the first two sold-out issues in the special oversized issue Giant Days: Orientation Edition, set at the single-issue price point of $3.99, in order to introduce many new readers to Susan, Esther, and Daisy.
Giant Days has been everything we hoped it would be and more,” said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. “It’s hard to find characters more enjoyable and hilarious than Esther, Daisy, and Susan. This Orientation Edition is the perfect way for new readers to catch up and discover the awesome comics that John and Lissa are serving up every month.”
Susan, Esther, and Daisy started at university three weeks ago and became fast friends. Away from home for the first time, all three want to reinvent themselves. But in the face of hand-wringing boys, “personal experimentation,” influenza, mystery-mold, nu-chauvinism, and the willful, unwanted intrusion of “academia,” they may be lucky just to make it to spring alive.

Praise for Giant Days:

“Allison has been compared to Joss Whedon and, for once, the comparison is warranted.” – CBR

“…Allison writes three characters who intrigue us with their eccentricities and their realistic friendship dynamics.” – Newsarama

“…Giant Days is a smart, sassy, and confident debut that shouldn’t be missed.” – Multiversity
“Overall, this issue is a magnificent start to what might be one of my favorite books this year. I’ll be waiting for class to start once again for the next issue.” – Comics Bulletin
Originally published as Giant Days #1-2, Giant Days: Orientation Edition arrives in comic shops on July 1st with an oversized 48 pages of story and a brand-new cover by creator John Allison for the price of $3.99 under Diamond order code APR158446.
The Final Order Cutoff deadline for retailers is June 8th. Not sure where to find your nearest comic retailer? Use comicshoplocator.com or findacomicshop.com to find one! It’s also available for order directly from boom-studios.com.

If You’ve Got It, Haunt It! ‘Lumberjanes’ #9 Goes to Second Print

If You’ve Got It, Haunt It! ‘Lumberjanes’ #9 Goes to Second Print

Peanuts #25 Main Cover

Lumberjanes #9 Second Print Cover by Brooke Allen

January 22, 2015 (Los Angeles, Calif.) – BOOM! Box, an imprint of award-winning publisher BOOM! Studios, is pleased to announce that Lumberjanes #9 from Noelle Stevenson, Shannon Watters, and a host of creative talent, has sold out at the distributor level. The publisher has rushed to a second printing.

Comic book fans should bear in mind that first printings of Lumberjanes #9 may still be found at the local comic shop nearest you. Not sure where to find your nearest comic retailer? Use comicshoplocator.com or findacomicshop.com to find one!

Lumberjanes is the runaway hit series about five, rad, butt-kicking pals determined to have an awesome summer together at Miss Quinzella Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet’s Camp for Hardcore Lady-Types, where things are not what they seem. Hailed by many critics as one of the best comic series of 2014, Lumberjanes was recently honored with a nomination for Outstanding Comic by the LGBT media advocacy organization GLAAD.

In issue #9, in order to earn the “If You’ve Got It, Haunt It” badge, the Lumberjanes head out to the deep, dark woods. But the woods aren’t so scary anymore, now that the Lumberjanes have kicked, punched, and befriended all the fearsome magical monsters out there, so they set out to find the one thing that can still scare them all: campfire stories! Issue #9 is written by Noelle Stevenson & Shannon Watters, and Faith Erin Hicks, featuring art by Hicks, Brittney Williams, Aimee Fleck, Becca Tobin, Carolyn Nowak, Felicia Choo, and T. Zysk.

Praise for Lumberjanes #9:

“…if you enjoy great characters, a fun plot structure that gives each of the characters room to tell us a little more about themselves, with absolutely fabulous art throughout the entire issue, then this is definitely for you.” – Newsarama

“The writing in this issue is top-notch as per usual, with some especially good puns (a bonus for me – ‘If You’ve Got it, Haunt It’ is the perfect name for a ghost story badge). The girls tell their stories not only in their own voice, but the story tries to fit their personality or reveals something about them.” – Adventures in Poor Taste

“This was a delightful issue, with moments of friendship and humor entwined with the spooky tales.” – Comic Bastards

“…this issue is a great showcase of Lumberjanes’ charms, and I can’t wait to see what future issues have in store for us.” – Word of the Nerd

Lumberjanes #9 second print ships from BOOM! Box with a new cover by main series artist Brooke Allen and carries a retail price of $3.99 with a Diamond Code of DEC148101. Final orders close for retailers on January 26th. It is anticipated to be in stores on February 11th.

BOOM! Box, an Imprint of BOOM! Studios, Announces Its First Collected Trade Paperback with ‘The Midas Flesh’ Vol. 1

The Midas Flesh V1 TP

The Midas Flesh Vol. 1 TP Cover by Emily Partridge

November 5,  2014 – Los Angeles, CA – Nearly one year ago, award-winning publisher BOOM! Studios announced their newest imprint BOOM! Box, a home for comics “made for the love of it.” The publisher is now pleased to announce the collected first volume of the imprint’s inaugural series, The Midas Flesh. Created by the longtime creative theam behind the Adventure Time comics, writer Ryan North (Dinosaur Comics) and artists Shelli Paroline and Braden Lamb, The Midas Fleshis an edge-of-your-seat, save-the-universe adventure with two butt-kickin’ ladies and a dinosaur in a spacesuit. The first volume collects issues #1-4 of this quirky space epic and features a casewrap covered in striking gold fingerprints.

“When you create an imprint that’s intended to encourage weird, experimental, and eclectic comics, you have to start off with a series that really embodies that mission,” said BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Matt Gagnon. “The Midas Flesh is just that for BOOM! Box. Ryan, Shelli, and Braden have already proven themselves to be some of the best storytellers in comics with their run on Adventure Time, and they’ve outdone themselves with The Midas Flesh. Plus: dinosaur on a spaceship. Hard to beat that.”

About The Midas Flesh:We’ve all heard of the Midas Touch. You know, the Greek myth about the man who did a number on himself by wishing for everything he touched to turn to gold? Well, you haven’t heard everything. Joey and her space crew have decided to return to Earth—a planet completely sectioned off, abandoned, and covered in gold—to find out exactly what happened to this once thriving planet and see if they can use that knowledge against the evil empire that’s tracking them down. As luck would have it, they just landed the most powerful weapon in the universe: some ancient dead guy’s body.

The Midas Flesh Vol. 1 trade paperback arrives in comic shops on December 3rd with a cover price of $14.99 under Diamond order code OCT141163. The cover is illustrated by Emily Partridge (Adventure Time). The Final Order Cutoff deadline for retailers is November 10th. Not sure where to find your nearest comic retailer?
