Voodoo Doll

Posted in Alternative Mindz Filmz, Myth and Legend, New York, Paper cut, poetry and writing on October 30th, 2008 by Rob

The Voodoo Doll is a small doll made of stick and stuffing, that is a representation of a person. The practice of voodoo dolls to cure the sick and unhealthy has its place in the lost passage of time. Its meaning started out of a way of healing which then leads to the idea of inflicting pain and torment.

This very easy and simple idea has its grounds in reality the transference of a persons “soul” would be placed in the doll and would in fact be you. The doll now has a piece of you, it could be a ring, a lock of hair or even personal “body” liquids (tried my best to be discrete). Now the doll has your person inside of it whatever the dolls controller wishes to do to you it will affect you.

Why and how this works: Simply put for any of this stuff to work or affect you one must wish and want to believe it to be so. This is the old act and case of mind over matter. Hypnotists use this to control subjects making them think they cluck like a chicken or stop smoking. As long as the subject thinks its powerless to stop it they will do as the other commands.

Three things are at work with the voodoo doll

First: the voodoo priest or witch holds the doll and never do they give it to the person. They simply say this doll represents you. By doing this you are right from the start completely in their control. The idea of a person having you in their hands is one of the major tactics in the game.

Second: taking a personal item of yours this is the “soul” they prey on your belief in the idea of a Soul and say they are taking yours by Transference or osmosis. Now you are completely invested in the game

Third: pins or string or whatever is used on the doll will affect you. By doing this you will do what is happening cause A: you see it and B: they tell you or start singing a chant or prayer

Halloween 2008

Happy Halloween, before you go out to the Halloween parade in NYC

Halloween parade

let us understand why we celebrate this day.

History of Halloween:

Halloween has its origins in the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain from the Old Irish samain.

The festival of Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture, and is sometimes  regarded as the “Celtic New Year”.

Traditionally, the festival was a time used by the ancient pagans to take stock of supplies and slaughter livestock for winter. The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, now known as Halloween, the boundary between the earthly bound  and the deceased dissolved, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops.

The festivals would frequently involve bonfires, into which bones of slaughtered livestock were thrown. Costumes and masks were also worn at the festivals in an attempt to mimic the evil spirits or placate them.

Halloween (whats in the name)

The term Halloween is shortened from All Hallows’ Even. Halloween” gets its “n” from “even”) as it is the eve of “All Hallows’ Day, which is now also known as All Saints’ Day

why the costume:

the present-day Halloween custom of wearing costumes and going trick-or-treating has its place in history. the medieval practices of “mumming” and “going a-souling” on the eves of All Saints and All Souls Days November 1 and 2. Mumming took the form of wearing costumes, singing, play-acting, and mischief making, while souling entailed going door to door and offering prayers for the dead in exchange for treats, particularly “soul cakes.”

V for Halloween:

British custom, dating from the 1600s, of youths wearing masks and carrying effigies while begging for pennies on Bonfire Night (also known as Guy Fawkes Night), the November 5 commemoration of the so-called Gunpowder Plot to blow up Parliament in 1605.

Trick or Treat:

the mordern day invention of Halloween started around 1940s and remains so to this very day. adults and children alike dress in outlandish outfits and enjoy this true pagan hoilday!

Happy Halloween

Rudy Ray Moore, a raunchy 1970s comedian who played the title role of a flashy pimp in the movie Dolemite and influenced a generation of rappers, has died. He was 81.

Moore said he developed the style, later a feature of rap music, by listening to men sitting outside joints “drinking beer and lying and talking (expletive).”

Moore played the fast-talking pimp and title character in the 1975 film Dolemite. In later years Moore collaborated with 2 Live Crew, Big Daddy Kane and Snoop Dogg.

Moore’s other acting credits during the Blaxploitation era of black action films included The Human Tornado in 1976 and Disco Godfather in 1979.

Rudy Ray Moore reprised his role as Dolemite in Insane Clown Posse’s film Big Money Hustlas a 2000 comedy which had other pop icons like John G. Brennan (jerky boys and family guy) wrestler author Mick Foley and Fred Berry (rerun from what’s happening).
