King Conan # 2 brings us part 2 of 4 of the Phoenix on The Sword storyline (the very same story that introduced the character in 1932). The creative team follows up the previous issue with more of the same excellence. The one-two punch of Tomas Giorello and Jose Villarrubia serves to bring the dangerous world of Hyboria to life with awesome grit. Meanwhile, Timothy Truman’s writing faithfully captures the spirit of Robert E. Howard’s original story, with a few bells and whistles (UN-blasphemously).

We’re half way through the story and our villain has made some power plays. Conversely, Conan has stumbled upon a mysterious figure who could be friend or foe (the poor sullen-eyed King has plenty of the latter). So keep reading and pick up the last issue if you haven’t already, by Crom!
